James Derick Kirkland to face Dennis Sharpe Jr. in middleweight division – Boxing news
The American professional boxer, James Derick Kirkland, who is currently the WBO NABO light middleweight title holder, is coming back to the ring against Dennis Sharpe Jr. in their eight-round middleweight bout in front of his home crowd on June 24, 2011
at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.
The two fighters will be face to face as part of the Eloy Suarez vs. Brian Vera and Joseph Elegele vs. Noel Rodriguez fight card. This world class boxing competition is sponsored by AT&T and Cerveza Tecate and is offered by the Golden Boy Promotions.
The 27-year-old Southpaw stance, James Kirkland has been an excellent contender since he joined boxing as a pro. The Light Middleweight contender, James ‘Mandingo Warrior’ Kirkland, fought 28 total fights, won 27 competitive bouts including 24 knockout victories
with only one loss in his professional boxing career.
Kirkland is now returning to the ring after being defeated by Nobuhiro Ishida on April 9, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada United States. It was the first ever loss of his career. The time was 1:52 of the first round when the referee Joe
Cortez called the bout off. Eric Cheek, Tim Cheatham and Glenn Trowbridge were appointed as the judges to that vicious bout.
Kirkland made his debut fighting against Maurice Chalmers in 2001 at the Sunset Station in San Antonio, Texas.
Dennis Sharpe is returning to the ring against Kirkland after seven back-to-back losses in his career. Sharpe performed well in the early time of his career. After winning six of his consecutive fights, he faced the first ever draw in his career fighting
against Carlton Holland on July 21, 2001 at the Bally’s Park Place Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, United States.
