James Ellington auctioning himself on Ebay - Olympics
James Ellington, a British sprinter, has recently put himself up for auction on eBay. The British athlete has allegedly resorted to this means as he lacks funds to take part in the London 2012 Olympics.
The most recent accomplishment that the British athlete has made is to take part in the 2011 World Championships. Other than that, Ellington made his best run in France in the earlier part of this year. The run was made at a 200 metre long stretch of track
in which the sprinter’s time was 20.52 seconds.
The reason that the British sprinter has been having problems with getting sponsorships to be a part of the Olympic Games is because Ellington has had trouble with injuries. The 26-year-old British athlete has had a series of injuries that has not made him
a suitable option in the eyes of most of the large sponsors. Not only that, Ellington has also been ignored by the lottery support programs.
Ellington expressed himself on the issue by commenting in the following manner: "I'm peaking when it really matters, finishing my best-ever season and smashing my own personal bests just before the 2012 Games. All I need now is a commercial sponsor to get
on board and I can commit myself full-time to getting into Team GB and hopefully win a medal for Britain."
According to Ellington, the amount of money that is required to be a part of the Olympic Games through the British team is at least £30,000. This sum of money includes the wage set by Ellington at the amount of £15,000. The other amount that will be left
will be towards covering all other expenses of the British athelete.
The Olympic Games is coming to the capital of England for the third time in its history. After the city of London will have hosted the international prestigoius event, it will become the first city in the world to have staged the Olympic Games for a total
of three times. The first time was in 1908 and the second one was in 1948.
