James Franklin decides to fight and get back his lost place in the New Zealand team – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Edward-Charles-Franklin-c65626 is determined to fight and get back his place in the New Zealand team after losing his central contract for the second consecutive year.
The all-rounder was excluded from the list of 20 contracted players, announced four days back and said that the decision was disappointing, as he was playing in three formats of the game for New Zealand since the past sixth months. He also added that he
won’t turn to county cricket until all his hopes for New Zealand recall die.
Franklin, who returned to the One-Day side in December last year, has proved to be a top http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 batsman in the 50-over format. He scored 325 runs at an average of 54.16.
However, he was excluded from the list of contracted players for showing unimpressive performance in the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) World Cup 2011.
"If I pinpoint anything I didn't do, which I wanted to do, it was my World Cup performances," Franklin said.
The left-handed batsman, while talking about the recently concluded mega event, said that he was not given the chance to bat and bowl in a couple of early games, which made him feel that he was not in proper form.
Depressed over his omission from New Zealand for the next year, he said that he can’t change whatever has been decided now, as its tough. He added that last year he had expected not making the contracts list, but this year was a surprise to him.
“To miss out entirely on a Test ranking is a hard one for me to fathom. I feel I have huge amount to offer in the longer form of the game," Franklin asserted.
The list of contracted players was designed by selectors http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Geoffrey-Wright-c67883. Greatbatch explained that Franklin was unfortunate to miss out the contract, though his performances were excellent, he failed to maintain the consistency which was
required by New Zealand cricket.
"Contracts are offered to the 20 players considered to have the greatest value to the Blackcaps over the coming 12 months based on previous form and their likelihood to be selected,” NZC said in its earlier statement.
Other than Franklin, other players left out of the central contract include Test fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daryl-Raymond-Tuffey-c52534, and the retired
batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SB-Styris-c2463.
