James Graham is happy that his departure from Super League escaped media hype
While talking to reporters on Thursday, November 17, James Graham acknowledged that he liked the fact that his departure from Super League was not the centre of any attention before England marches into the Four Nations final against Australia, at Elland
Road, Leeds.
Red Roses will lock horns with Kangaroos in the Four Nations’ title decider on November 19. Graham has so far made 23 appearances in Super League, and Saturday’s game will be his last at this berth as the player will bid farewell to the Super League.
The player has penned a three-year deal with the Australian franchise, Canterbury Bulldogs. The news remained low key as all the hype of his departure from his on-field role was attracted by Adrian Morely and Darren Lockyer, who announced hanging up their
boots during the earlier part of the running campaign.
Australian captain, Lockyer, announced his farewell after making 59th appearance for his country at Elland Road, while England's veteran front rower Morley will be the first Briton, who will surpass the 50th benchmark, before he signs off from
the rugby field.
Expressing his thoughts about his decision of departing from Super League, the English player added, "It will be a bit weird but I made the decision and one game was always going to be the last. It's nothing personal for me, I don't want it to be anything
like that. It's all about trying to win with England.”
There is no denying the fact that if he leaves on a winning note, nothing else could surpass the feeling of a victorious departure. This is important for him, because this way he will be able to make himself available for his country for their future clashes.
The departing Englishman added that he loves representing his country and he wishes to continue playing for them even after moving to the National Rugby League (NRL).
He went on and said, "I don't think the administrators have anything sorted out for next year yet but we're starting to get some momentum and we need to build on that regardless of the result on Saturday. We need to go into the World Cup with some momentum."
Currently, nothing can be ascertained about his next international game, because it is highly unlikely that his latest Australian association, will allow him to play for England with the Exiles in 2012.
