Why did he wear a long sleeve jumper all the time?

Are there any other players who prefer the long sleeve jumpers?

Well he used to live in Canberra which would be very cold all footy season round so naturally everyone would wear a long sleeve jumper and i guess he has just gotten used to playing in one.

The only current players I can think of that wear long sleeves are Stephen Milne for the Saints and Longmuir for the Dockers.......dont even know if he is still playing for them. I guess they just wear them for warmth & a bit of protection?

Steven Silvagni was another famous player to wear long sleeves.

One of my favourite Tigers, Scott Turner was a fan of the long sleeves.

some afl players prefer long sleeve jumpers to no sleeves for marking and grazing thier arms/ elbow if they fall over or get tackled

During Jimmy's long footy career guernsey design changed. When he was a kid, the jumper was wool or wool mix and he was playing in Canberra - which is even colder than Ballarat, and Ballarat should share a post code with Antarctica.

So I guess he got used to having long sleeves to keep his muscles warm and flexible, and even when modern silky tops came in, he stayed in long sleeves as a matter of habit - like some footballers always wear the same undies or always put on the left boot first.

It's a theory, you'd really have to ask him.

WELL u see james and z others did it so coz in melbourne z weather is always unpredictable and it could become rainy in a matter of seconds!!! so he wore long sleeves so he could keep warm and not get a cold!! and then it just became a fashion!!

sos snr and son of sos, used to aswell, personally i found them to be uncomfortable.

dempsey did too, but that was because he suffered horrendous burns in the Lara bushfires years ago.

the adelaide crows' Nathan Basset wears one every now and then.

not exactly sure why... maybe just feels more comfortable on em. id rather wear the long sleeves... but only because i havent got buff arms like most of the footy players today, and ive hardly got a tan :P
