James Hopes leads Queensland to convincing win over South Australia in Sheffield Shield
James Hopes picked up six wickets as Queensland overcame http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 (SA) by 94 runs in their Sheffield Shield match at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
Earlier Queensland had set SA a target of 272 runs, but the hosts were bundled-out for just 177 runs in the second session of the final day’s play. Harris carried his bat through the innings with a magnificent century until he ran out of partners.
The wicket was very conducive for batting on the first two days. However, things changed dramatically on days three and four as quite a few cracks on the wicket widened, which allowed the bowlers to dominate.
SA had to bat a few overs before the close of play on day three yesterday. However, they didn’t have an ideal time as they lost two batsmen for just seven runs. Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Smith-c1654 and night watchman Nathan Lyon were both dismissed for ducks.

Christian and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Manou-c1504 were sent back to the pavilion without scoring a single run.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 were on top at that stage, as the hosts were struggling with six wickets down for just 36 runs, and it looked as if SA would be bowled-out within 50 runs.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cullen-Bailey-c1297 offered some resistance and provided some good support to Harris, who was playing well at the other end. The pair constructed a solid 82-run partnership and things started looking much better for SA.
Bailey however, wasn’t able to capitalise on the start he got and was dismissed after scoring 28 runs off 94 balls. His wicket brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kane-Richardson-c1765 to the crease and he tried his best to support Harris.
Richardson got out after scoring 10 runs off 36 balls, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Edmondson-c1134 and Peter George increased SA’s tally of ducks to seven. Harris could do nothing but watch his partners getting out at the other end. However, the SA opener scored a terrific 105
runs for his team in difficult batting conditions.
James Hopes and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Feldman-c1854 were outstanding with the ball. Hopes ended up with six wickets while Feldman picked up the remaining four.
