James Key: We are hopeful of better performance in 2011 Belgium Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber technical director James Key has said that they are hoping for better results from both of their drivers, Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi in the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix.
Key added that they will test some new upgrades during the Friday Practice session at Spa-Francorchamps and that they are expecting positive performance from the drivers in Belgium, following the disappointing 2011 Hungarian race.
Talking to reporters, Key said, “We're looking forward to getting into the next part of the season and going to Spa, which requires a medium-to-low downforce level. To date it will be the lowest downforce level the teams have run, but a lot will depend on
the weather conditions, because they are very unpredictable.”
The team’s technical director added that Spa circuit has well-known corners and high-speed long straights, which should suit their C30 car during the race.
He went on to mention, “The Pirelli tyres are the soft and the medium compounds. We know from Silverstone that the soft tyre works well with the high speed corners, but we have some work to do with the medium compound. The car will have updates to the front
wing and a new rear wing which is Spa specific.”
On the other hand, the team drivers are aiming to perform well in Belgium after getting disappointing results from the Budapest race weekend.
Sauber driver Perez said that he is really looking forward to get strong results at Spa, as it is one of his favourite racetracks in the sport. The Mexican told the media that he has already won at the Spa circuit, when he drove in Formula 3 in the past.
The teammate Kobayashi also set a goal of scoring decent points for the team in the Belgium Grand Prix. He stated that they can perform well at Spa-Francorchamps next weekend, if they stay cool in tough situations of the race.
Both drivers, Perez and Kobayashi failed to register their 2011 Hungarian race in the top ten positions.
Despite the Budapest race, the team Sauber are looking forward to a successful race weekend in Belgium, which will be held on August 28, 2011.
Let’s see how they perform in Belgium next weekend.
