James Key joins Toro Rosso as new technical director – Formula 1 news
James Key has joined Toro Rosso as their new technical director after Giorgio Ascanelli resigned from his role.
Key has worked with Sauber for almost two years and left the team during the start of the current season. Moreover, he has also provided his services to Jordan and remained there until it was re-branded to Force India.
Furthermore, he said that he will try his best to make the essential developments in the car so as to improve its pace in the remaining season. In addition, he said that the change of rules and regulations in 2014 will provide some good grounds to show their
true strength.
Besides, he said that he is extremely pleased to join the sister concern of Red Bull Racing while he expressed that it is a great opportunity for him to prove his potential in the sport. He also said that he is very much encouraged and is trying his best
to make the significant changes so as to come up stronger in the season ahead.
"I am very happy to be joining Scuderia Toro Rosso after a few months away from F1," Key said. "It's a great opportunity for me to join a team that strikes me as extremely ambitious with a workforce that is very motivated. Even after just a few days, I have
sensed, from everyone I have dealt with, an enthusiasm to move the team forward.”
"There are clear opportunities coming up through regulation changes and we intend to look not only at the long term. We will be studying the team's working practices, while looking to see which areas need strengthening further,” he added.
Meanwhile, the team principal of Toro Rosso, Franz Tost has said that they are feeling immensely happy to have Key in their squad and are hoping to achieve better results in the forthcoming races.
Additionally, Tost said that they can’t expect miracles in the remaining races but are positively looking forward to see some substantial improvements in the next season.
Over and above, it will be interesting to see how the Faenza based team performs in the Italian GP.
