James Morrison makes his move to grab halfway lead at Alstom Open de France
James Morrison continued to show stunning form to post another five-under, 66 on the second day of Alstom Open de France even after a bout with the perilous Crohn’s disease, which aggravated on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old was earlier thinking to pull out from the tournament but displayed enormous resilience to lead the tournament at the Le Golf National, Paris.
“I had a flare-up start of the week and I wasn't going to play up to Wednesday morning, and put on some steroids for the week and I feel it's really calming it down now. So I'm still here,”  said Morrison. “I think I probably had the one squirrely shot in
two days, been pretty steady, pretty solid.”
Morrison struck his lone bogey so far in the tournament at Par-four, 12th and carded six birdies to grab the lead. The young Englishman is looking to win his first event on the tour for the season and appears to be following the right strategy
so far.
Overnight co-leader Australian Richard Green stood his ground firmly to settle for an outright second with an aggregate of nine-under. He posted a round of three-under, 68 to remain in contention for the summit for the €3,000,000 event.
The other co-leader, Englishman Graeme Storm dropped down the leaderboard to finish tied for 14th. His overnight lead swiftly dissolved right from the start of the second round and had to close his day with a four-over, 75.
Green opened his round with considerable aplomb and continued with his birdie spree till the end until he fumbled with a bogey on par-four, 17th.
The 40-year-old said, “I feel like my game is sort of under control. I guess my composure really has been very good, and I've been able to score well enough to keep momentum going along.”
Martin Kaymer posted a round of two-under, 69 on the second day to finally avert a complete disaster in his ranking profile. Defending champion, Miguel Angel Jimenez, failed to make the cut after his lopsided rounds of 71 and 79.
