James Nitties not disappointed about being dismissed from PGA
Jason Laws, who is a Newcastle golf club professional, is very confident about his student, James Nitties. He boldly stated that Nitties will not be discouraged or disappointed after being dismissed from the PGA Tournament.
Nitties was cut from the US PGA TOUR yesterday. In the final stage of Q school, James Nitties was just four shots behind from attaining a card. Had he achieved those shots in Orange County, Florida, he would still be playing for PGA, in 2011.
This professional got to the final stage of the sixth-round, Q school and his rounds were of 72, 75, 69, 68, 72, and 70. These scores left the player at five under by the end of the tournament. This means that James will again play on the Nationwide Tour in 2011.
His two years on the most expensive golf circuit and also what is known as, golf’s dream tour, the PGA, are over. Jason taught James for ten years and yesterday said that Nitties will be not be discouraged about being cut from the PGA, "Everyone has their up and down years. He's fine and I think you'll see big things from him this year and at the start of next year." “I think he'll go gangbusters next year - he'll be fine".
Jason articulated that he’s playing very well and it’s just one of those things. The Tour is very hard to play, and it is surely an achievement for Nitties to have played on the tour for two years.
The Australian player finished 94th overall on his first year on the tour. Making $931,532 in total prize money, he had a somewhat decent season. The amount he earned was due to his top ten finishes at the FBR Open, where he finished in fourth.
Also, the Mayakoba Golf Classic where he finished sixth. Also, five top-25 positions earned him a good amount as well. He finished third at the Puerto Rico Open in March. Apart from that, he only had three other top 25 finishes. As a result, Nitties was dropped to 134th in the standings and thus had to return to Q school to retain his playing card.
