http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 happy to be focusing only on ODIs and Tests – Cricket News Update
Despite being snubbed from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012’s preliminary squad, James Pattinson, the young Australian fast bowler, is not too disappointed because he wants to gain more experience before trying his hand at the shortest format
of the game.
The Kangaroos announced the 30-man initial pool of players for the mega event, leaving out the Victorian. Pattinson however, has been named in the ODI squad, which will take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), in August/September.
The 22-year-old burst into the international scene last year and made an immediate impact with his ability to bowl fast consistently. On top of that, the youngster is more than handy with the bat, already having an average of more
than 30 runs per innings, which is brilliant for a specialist bowler.
The right-arm fast bowler is optimistic about his future at the ultimate level of the game and is showing mental strength by taking his omission from the T20 squad positively, and thinks that it provides him a chance to concentrate
on the other two versions of international sport.
Pattinson has already played four T20s for the Kangaroos and wants to play more in future, after cementing his place in ODIs and Tests.
"I think, being young, it’s pretty hard to juggle all three forms of the game at my age. I’m just excited to be involved in the one-day and Test team and, look, if the chance comes when I’m a bit older, I’d love to take that," the
fast bowler said.
The right-armer has already picked up 26 scalps in the five Tests he has so far played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at home last year.
The youngster admits that he failed to impress the selectors in the T20 format, with an economy rate of eight runs per over, but wants to make amends in future.
"Probably another thing, my performances haven’t been too great in Twenty20 cricket of late. It’s quite a lot of pressure on you. For me it’s probably easier to go back to the two formats and concentrate on that while I’m young and
inexperienced," he added.
