http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 ruled out of India series – Cricket News Update
Australia’s young pacer, James Pattinson has been ruled out for the remainder of the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, after scans revealed injury to his left foot.
The fast bowler picked up the knock during his team’s second Test demolition of the Men In Blue which resulted in the hosts wining the SCG bout by an innings and 64 runs.
He however, will miss the remaining two fixtures which will be played at Perth and Adelaide respectively, allowing him to recuperate after figuring intensively for the Kangaroos since making his debut a month earlier.
His replacement has been announced in the shape of left-armer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Kountouris-c43123, the national team physio described Pattinson’s knock as an "early stage bone stress injury of the metatarsal bone of the left foot", while adding that he will definitely miss the remaining Test matches.
Since making his debut, the 21-year-old has come for praise for his aggression and more importantly, his wicket taking ability which has seen him collect 25 scalps at an impeccable average of 18.12, which also includes two 5-wicket hauls.
His unavailability now gives http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Harris-c2330 a chance to make a return for the national team after missing plenty of game time through injury. The 31-year-old was included in the squad for the second Test after an intense training program but was relegated to
the 12th man duties after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 resisted the temptation of playing a four prong pace attack.
However, with the third Test being played at the bouncy track of Perth, Harris’ inclusion was deemed a certainty even Pattinson had been fit. For now it seems, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822, the spinner is likely to retain his place in the side.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-John-Inverarity-c85980, the national selector stated otherwise by claiming that the selectors had considered resting Pattinson for the next game.
"The intention of the National Selection Panel was to rest James from the Perth Test match as this young man has played in four Test matches over a period of just five weeks," Inverarity said. "This intention has become a necessity after post-match scans
have revealed James' foot injury."
