Emerging Australian pacer, James Pattinson, on Monday said that his rehab program for the back injury is progressing well and is all set to make a comeback to full training in Brisbane from Tuesday, May 22, 2012.
The 22-year-old Victoria fast bowler had sustained the back injury while fielding during the second Test of three-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Trinidad last month, flying back home ahead of the third Test. Since then he has been
spending most of his time walking, jogging and working in the gym in his early rehabilitation. In the second phase of his rehab program, the Victorian heads to Brisbane to start his training at Australia’s Centre of Excellence from Tuesday.
Though Pattinson has not fully recovered from the back spasms, he has been named in the squad for the one-day tour of the British Isles commencing in late June and is hoping to be back bowling at 100% before leaving for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
"I'm bowling about three times a week now at about 80% intensity and building that up and hopefully (I'll have) three weeks of going 100% in the nets before getting over to England," said Pattinson while speaking to the media reporters
on Monday.
"I'm looking for a bit of match intensity, so hopefully I can get out there in the middle. It'll mostly be white-ball practice with the one-dayers coming up," he added further.
Replying to a query regarding his injury, the right-arm medium pacer said, “I jarred my back up in an awkward position and straightaway felt the pain in my back and it just seized up from there.”
The Victorian pacer had earlier sustained a foot stress injury during the second Test of five-match home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Sydney Cricket Ground, an injury that kept him out of action for more than a month.
Pattinson made his One Day International debut in April last year against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 at Dhaka and has so far played five ODIs claiming 8 wickets at a bowling average of 28.37.
The Victorian fast bowler shot into the limelight with his match-winning performances in home Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and India, the last Southern Hemisphere summer. Since debuting in the longest format of the game in December last year, against
New Zealand, Pattinson has played five Tests and has 26 scalps in his name at an impressive average of 18.96.
