James Peters, Alan Roberts retain lead: Day 2 - RS200 National Championships at Weymouth & Portland
First day leaders, James Peters and Alan Robertson from Hayling Island Sailing Club retained their lead after second day of RS200 National Championships. The pair grabbed an 11 point lead over second placed, Dicken Maclean and Hannah Young, clinching a third
place in the only race of the day at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Now, they are currently on top with 22 points.
The scheduled races of Day 2 commenced under typical British summertime weather conditions with howling winds and rain fall. However, the wind started slowing down as the fleet sailed for the first race of the day.
The first race of the day and the third race overall started well, but soon it had to be aborted due to a sudden shift of the wind to left, which lifted the path finder and left the fleet far behind. The second start of the race went well which resulted
in a perfect sail from the fleet.
Chris Catt and Ally Martin sailed brilliantly in the first race to finish on top followed by Stephen Tiernan and Tim Goodhew at number two. As the wind started to slow down during the first race, the second scheduled race could not commence because of a
low wind forecast and the overall standings were updated according to three races so far in the event, where Peters and Roberts still lead with 22 points.
The overall standings at the end of Day 2 of RS200 National Championships are given below:
1. Gold 1424 James Peters, Alan Roberts, Hayling Island Sailing Club 11, 8, 3 = 22 points
2. Gold 940 Dicken Maclean, Hannah Young, Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club 12, 9, 12 = 33 points
