James Robnett murder case 1930s?

I remember one of the early-1930s US crime magazines, given to me by a relative when I was a nipper. The magazine covered the famous Professor Snook murder case and, I think in the same issue, a case involving the ambiguous guilt of another 'murderer', James Robnett whose girl friend died in suspicious circs, I've never been able to follow up on the Robnett case and wonder if anyone has clues where to start. The case has always intrigued me. I feel stupid because I can't recall the name of the magazine. Any help please ? All literary bloodhound suggestions welcome !
