James Selvaraj says Malaysian shuttlers should display their spirit at the 2011 World Championships
James Selvaraj, the high performance director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), said that Malaysian shuttlers should display their spirit and deliver to their maximum potential at the 2011 World Championships.
James appreciated the productive ten-day training camp the Malaysian national squad attended at the University of Bath, in England. All shuttlers in the national squad are satisfied with the preparations in Bath and are ready to compete at the world meet.
The High Performance Director is completely satisfied with the training stint and also appreciated the spirit, which the players showed during the training. He wants national shuttlers to display the same spirited attitude during their matches in the World
Championships.
Malaysian shuttlers arrived at London from Bath yesterday and will practice at the Wembley Indoor Arena before the event starts. James also stressed on the point that the next few days are very crucial for the shuttlers and they should keep on preparing
for the mega event.
James expressed his view on the training stint at Bath by saying, “They showed quality in their training at Bath. Now, it is all about preparing themselves psychologically for the world meet. I hope they will keep their chins up.”
While talking about the training sessions of the Malaysian team for the next two days, James said, “They will bump into their opponents during training at Wembley and they should not get intimidated.”
The High Performance Director is also satisfied with the performance of Men’s Singles World Number One shuttler, Lee Chong Wei and Men’s Doubles World Number Four pair of Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat. These shuttlers are completely focused in their training
sessions, as they are among the top title contenders in their respective categories.
Chong Wei is currently in blistering form and is expected to win the Men’s Singles title. If he succeeds in clinching the title, he will become the first World Champion from Malaysia, as the country is yet to taste victory at the World Championships.
