James Smith is confident that Leyton Orient can add to Arsenal’s woes
Leyton Orient’s attacking midfielder James Dean Smith has stressed upon the fact that his side can cause an upset in their FA Cup 5th round replay against Arsenal at the Emirates. Leyton Orient will take on the Gunners on Wednesday, the 2 of March,
2011.
Smith came to the Orient side on loan in 2009 before becoming a regular member of the squad during the same year. The player, before joining The O’s, had loan stints with Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has wished to face Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and is confident that his side could leave Arsene Wenger’s men behind.
Smith was of the opinion that Arsenal’s defeat to Birmingham City in the final of the Carling Cup could play a huge part in their FA Cup game, as the home side players are seemingly distorted and still can’t get over their loss to the Blues.
"Hopefully the Birmingham match will have knocked their confidence, we all know that there will be 11 internationals out there for them and it will be a great test for us.” Smith added.
The O’s have also been boosted by the news of their French Striker, Jonathan Tehoue, who has been passed fit to play against Arsene Wenger’s men. The Frenchman scored the equalizer for Leyton Orient in their 1st leg game at the Matchroom Stadium,
played on the 20th of February, 2011.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old midfielder has expressed the belief in his team and the fans knowing that they are going to get the best available support which could result in the second upset for Arsenal in just the three days.
"It's going to be amazing. When we knew we had the draw, the queue of people that went around the stadium went on for miles, I have a few people that have text me asking for tickets and I don't even know them, trying to get some tickets. I'm trying to get
everyone there that wants to go but it's hard." Smith stated.
Smith started his career with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and was part of their youth squad before he made it into Chelsea’s senior team in 2005. The midfielder was clearly frustrated at the club as he just got one chance to appear for The Blues before he was finally released
by the club after thirteen years.
The 24-year-old is pretty much confident that his side can topple Arsenal and go into the quarterfinals. It also gives him a huge chance to prove his worth after the pundits have continuously doubted his abilities.
"Moving has made me a better person and footballer. I feel like I needed to take a step back and hopefully I will end up taking two steps forward. I know I can," the mid-fielder concluded.
