James Stewart indefinitely postpones entry into 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series
San Manuel’s James Stewart, probably one of the most intimidating names in professional motocross, will not be competing in the initial rounds of the 2011 Lucas Oil American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Pro Motocross Series.
Stewart and the rest of the San Manuel team have decided to sit out the initial stages of the upcoming series in order to bring their game back to 100 percent before getting into contention for this year’s title. The San Manuel team had been seen preparing
for the first round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series, which kicks off on Saturday, May 21st, in Rancho Cordova, California, over the past few weeks. However, they decided to pull out at the last minute.
While talking about the decision to stay away from the competition for awhile, the 25-year-old Stewart said, “Everyone witnessed the way I struggled during the Supercross series this year and while I’d like to race this weekend, we just aren’t ready. I hope
fans will understand. The decision has been very hard to make, but we won’t race till we’re ready.”
A significant portion of Stewart’s recent Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship season was plagued by crashes. This not only deprived him of a win on a numerous occasions, it eventually cost him the title. He ended up finishing in fourth place as the
17-race Championship concluded earlier this month in Las Vegas.
The San Manuel team has postponed their entry in to the current edition of the race series for an indefinite time period. It is not confirmed whether they will be participating in the series at all. According to Stewart’s statement, he and his team will
not race till they are ready, which could very well lead to them missing the entire series if it really is 100 percent form that they are currently searching for. Even a late entry to the series will keep them from having a chance at clinching the title.
The team’s decision has come down as a real disappointment for fans. They were anxiously looking forward to seeing their favourite motocross athlete in action, but now they will have to wait a little longer.
According to one of the fans, it was wrong for Team San Manuel to postpone their entry into the race just because their riders are not currently 100 percent. He feels that competing and ending up in fourth or fifth place in the initial rounds of the Lucas
Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series is much better than not competing at all. Staying away from the competition will further prevent the riders from finding their form and consistency.
The first round of the series, Hangtown National, which kicks off on May 21st and will be attracting some of the best motocross athletes from all around the country. The line-up will include TwoTwo Motorsports Chad Reed, Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto
and Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey among many others.
The entry of Stewart in the field will definitely result in the intensity of the races rising to an completely new level. Hopefully he’ll soon find the form that he is searching for and get back in the racing scene.
Some observers believe Stewart should leave the nightmares of AMA Supercross season behind and only concentrate on the current Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross series.
