James Strong appointed as the chairman of 2015 World Cup organizing committee – Cricket News Update

Cricket Australia's Chairman, Jack http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, was excited for having Strong roped in and hoped the experience of former Qantas’ chairman will be handy for them in organizing the esteemed World Cup event.
"Cricket is very fortunate to have attracted James Strong to lead the ICC World Cup 2015 Local Organising Committee," said Jack Clarke while talking to the media reporters.
"James' experience of heading large multinational enterprises will assist the World Cup to be an event that will attract fans from all over the world,” he added further.
Besides being Qantas chairman, Strong has been chairman of Kathmandu Holdings and the chairman of the Australian Council of Arts. He is currently the chairman of a retail chain, Woolworths Limited.
Cricket Australia and Cricket New Zealand said in a joint statement that Strong will lead the 2015 World Cup organising committee, overseeing the organisation and execution of the high profile tournament. He will also be responsible for appointing the chief
executive officer of the committee.
While talking to the media reporters, Strong said that he was delighted over being appointed as the 2015 World Cup organising committee's chairman.
"I am absolutely delighted to be involved in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup to be jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia,” said Strong. “Both countries have a great track record of organising major sporting events, and share a passion for cricket,"
he added further.
Strong vowed to organize an exciting tournament which will get the attention of cricket fans from both Australia, New Zealand and the world.
Clarke said that the prestigious World Cup event will leave a lasting legacy for the sport in both Australia and New Zealand. He said that the quadrennial tournament will not only promote the game in the hosting countries but also in the whole world.
