James Sutherland backs selectors’ decision to sack Simon Katich
The Chief Executive of Cricket Australia (CA), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-Mathew-Katich-c90404, but at the same time, he said that he has a soft corner for the dumped opening batsman.
Cricket Australia recently announced the names of 25 lucky players who were rewarded with contracts for the next 12 months and the classy left-handed opener, Katich, was the most shocking exclusion from the list.
Katich has served the Kangaroos in 45 One Day Internationals (ODIs), scoring 1324 runs at an average of 35.78. His batting figures in the longer version of the game are even more impressive. He holds an average of 45.03 in the Test format.
Slamming the decision to jettison him, Katich termed it as ridiculous. Breaking his silence last night, the 35-year-old batsman stated that that it is hard to figure out the reason behind such an illogical move by the governing body of cricket in the country.

move to axe Katich.
In contrary, the CA chief believes that even though the decision was a bit disappointing for Katich, the selectors made the right move by including young players in the Aussie ranks.
“Simon has every right to feel bitterly disappointed. Every http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. All of a sudden his contract is no longer there for him and I think that, certainly from where I sit, I sympathise with him
and understand that he is disappointed,” said Sutherland.
He also showed his trust in the integrity and impartiality of Australian selection panel, saying, “They need to use their best judgment to pick teams that are not only the best team for Australia for the day, but they also are required under policy to keep
an eye to the future.”
Meanwhile, Sutherland expressed delight over Katich’s decision of continuing his first-class cricket and hoped that the left-hander will make a strong comeback next year.
