James Sutherland irked by the bad light call on second successive day of Gabba Test – Cricket News Update
Cricket Australia's chief executive, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Rauf-c46204 had called the day off due to bad light at 4.38 pm local time staggering a crowd of 11,103 and a far larger TV audience. Light meters of the on field umpires might have been showing some low reading but blue
skies were still visible above the Gabba.
While talking to an Australian radio, Asad http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rauf-c84151 said that their light meters were showing the same reading that had called play off on Thursday moments before a heavy rainstorm engulfed Gabba adding that they had to follow the light
meters and not the brightness in the environment.
"It looks brighter than yesterday but we have to follow the light meter", said Rauf while talking to ABC radio.
The Cricket Australia chief executive however, said that the decision of the umpires had shown little regard for the sport lovers.
"Cricket needs to be looking after fans as our first priority, we need to work harder to give them more, not less," said Sutherland who was miffed as many other spectators.
A Cricket Australia spokesman revealed that the Sutherland might take the ‘bad light’ issue to the International Cricket Council for a review.
"James Sutherland intends to take up the 'bad light' issue with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625, and will argue that cricket needs to take better care of putting fans first," said the CA spokesman while talking to the media reporters on Friday.
"Sutherland has spoken to the match referee [http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-John-Pycroft-c44449] tonight to understand bad light decision, respects their decision but wants ICC review," he added further.
Australian players were also annoyed by the decision of umpires to call the play off early. Australian off spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822 said that it was frustrating for the players as well as the spectators. He, however, agreed that the decision
was taken by the umpires in the best interest of the players.
