James Sutherland says no action to be taken against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-Mathew-Katich-c90404’s outbursts
The chief of Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, James Sutherland, has shown his sympathies for Simon Katich after he was dropped from the list of centrally contracted players and presumes that no action will be taken against him.
Earlier Katich lashed out at Cricket Australia and its selection committee for ignoring him. He lodged a strong protest against the Australian cricket authorities by claiming he was still fit enough to represent his country which could be witnessed from
his current form.
He also stated that Cricket Australia was confused during the Ashes 2010-11 and did not select an appropriate squad for the series, which resulted in the 3-1 loss.
Katich is still on the contract list which will expire on 30 June, 2011 and by speaking against the board, he breached his contract.
Sutherland hoped no action will be taken against Katich, who was unhappy with the decision after being ignored from the contract.
He further commented, "I understand that Simon's disappointed and that he's made comments along those lines today but I don't see that CA will be taking action for those comments," Sutherland said. "My view and the Cricket Australia board's view is that
it is right for people to be able to make their subjective judgements but it crosses the line when there are any suggestions about the integrity of individual members of the selection panel, the panel as a group, or the processes they engage in to make these
selections”.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 from 1990 to 1994. He was a right handed-batsman and a right-arm medium fast bowler.
Sutherland played four First class matches and scored 54 runs, claiming nine wickets. He took part in nine list ‘A’ matches and scored 28 runs while claiming 12 wickets. He was an average cricketer who could not shine and was unable to impress at the top
level.
Sutherland replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malcolm-Walter-Speed-c74040 in July of 2001 and was elected as the Chief executive for Cricket Australia. He was involved in administrative affairs of the game since then and Australian cricket ruled the world during his tenure.
After gaining a lot of respect from Australian cricketers over the years, Sutherland has come under fire from different circles for this recent incident.
Katich revealed that his long association with Cricket Australia was axed by a four-minute exchange of words on the telephone with the chief.
However, Sutherland understands Katich’s sentiments and does not blame him for what he considers to be a natural reaction by the veteran.
