James Taylor, the newly appointed skipper of England http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808, is optimistic that he can play for the English Test team.
The 21-year-old has changed teams in the English County Division and will now be part of the English County Division one team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807, a Division Two team.
The right-handed batsman was delighted to sign for Nottinghamshire and believes that playing alongside the best players in the country will give him a chance to prove that he belongs at the top level.
In an interview to Sky Sports, Taylor said, “I'm delighted to have made the move and I'm looking forward to the start of the season. It's taken a while but I'm delighted it's all sorted now. I'm looking for a new challenge and aspiring to play against the
best bowlers in the country, showing I can make the step up to Division One and showing the selectors I can score my runs against the best bowlers in the country.”
The 21-year-old wants to focus on scoring runs for Nottinghamshire, and does not want his desire to play for the national side, affect his performance for Notts Country.
Taylor said, “The most important thing for me at the moment though is not to focus on England. I think you can get distracted by that. I just have to work on making runs for Notts. They've given me this opportunity.”
Taylor had kind words for his former club and said that where he is now, is all because of the support he received from Leicestershire.
The leadership skills of Taylor will be put to test when the 21-year-old leads the English Lions to a tour of Bangladesh. The visitors are scheduled to play five ODI and two Twenty20 matches against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 A side, during the month of January, 2012.
