James Toseland of BMW Motorrad Italia aims to finish both races at Silverstone – WSBK news
BMW Motorrad Italia SBK team rider James Toseland is keen to finish both the races during the upcoming 2011 World Superbike Championship Silverstone event.
The British rider crashed during a test session and sustained a fracture on his wrist.
Toseland said, “The prognosis for the wrist is a 100 percent recovery. When it was feeling OK I tried to race in America and the pain it was giving me while I was riding was enough to tell me there was damage being done.”
Toseland was replaced by Lorenzo Lanzi for the previous three rounds. Though Toseland has not been able to score decent points to get in the title fight, but he is determined to achieve good results on his comeback.
He further said, “I had a delayed reaction to the nerve and ligament damage I had done to it so I was back to square one and in hospital. Basically in all kinds of trouble again. We realised then that absolutely no loading it whatsoever is the cure put the
thing is deciding when and how much to load it again.”
Toseland conducted a session of 50 laps at Italy, though the feeling was good but not better in terms of pain. He further added that during the Italian event his injured wrist was not doing well in the evening but later on, it improved.
It was a pleasant moment for him that he could ride the bike again and did not feel much pain on his wrist.
On his comeback at Silverstone, he is willing to complete his race weekend without any hesitation. The results are not his priority yet but he will push his performance envelope. He also stated that he will not race in wet conditions to avoid any further
damages to his wrist.
Presently, he ranks at 26th place with 3 points, whereas his teammate Ayrton Badovini is on eighth position on the WSBK points table.
