James Wade disappointed fans at the UK Open, what does the future hold?
James Wade is considered as the most successful darts player after the legendary Phil Taylor. His record at the UK Open has been outstanding, yet, this year, he failed to score a hat-trick.
This year has been full of surprises and out of the box results. Names like Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis and James Wade have been outshined by rookies like Simon Whitlock and Robert Thornton.
The McCoy’s Premier League saw “The Jackpot” thrown out of the mega event by Whitlock. The world number 2 was knocked out with amazing precision and aggressive play by “The Wizard”.
However, Phil Taylor remained consistent and defeated Whitlock in the final of the 2012 McCoy’s Premier League.
James Wade, on the other hand, was invisible in the entire Premier League. Having an impressive career record, it was thought that Wade would be seen in the finals of the Premier League but it did not end like that.
The UK Open came with a bang and promised another show of the darts magicians, providing un-parallel sports entertainment. The UK Open started off with a sad note when the world saw Ted Hankey making an early exit at his debut UK Open tournament.
Adrian Lewis also came and went out of the tournament without even being noticed, as his form was below average. His play has never been this disappointing and his lack of focus caused him the UK Open.
Wade was one man who was being watched all over the globe, as he could have pulled off a hat-trick. His play was dull and inconsistent as he accompanied Lewis to leave the UK Open without entertaining the fans.
Wade knew the fact that the UK Open would not be easy, as new comers have been dominating the darts world and his previous wins would have a limited effect on his third UK Open entry.
“I'm fortunate enough to have won twice in Bolton and it would be fantastic to do it again, but I know I'll have a tough weekend ahead of me,” said Wade a few days before hitting the UK Open.
The UK Open has been disappointing for Wade as he fell short in front of rookies. A player of his stature requires consistent wins and stays on the top. However, Wade has not done that for a while now.
The upcoming World Matchplay will either make or break the darts magician, as it is a must win tournament for Wade to flourish as a darts player.
