Jamie Anderson dominates women’s Slopestyle contest at 2012 Burton Canadian Open
American snowboard slopestyle legend Jamie Anderson continued her domination of the Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Tour slopestyle events by claiming top honours in women’s Slopestyle Final at the 5Star 2012 Burton Canadian Open in Calgary, Alberta, on Saturday,
February 4.
Finishing at Anderson’s heels was the Swiss rider Sina Candrian, while New Zealand’s Stefi Luxton rounded out the top-three to complete the podium.
For the last few years, the 21-year-old Anderson has been dominating the slopestyle contests around the world. Her deadly skills have already earned her the TTR World Tour crown a number of times and kept her undefeated in any of the slopestyle events in
the 2011/2012 TTR World Tour competition as well.
Coming to Calgary to take on some of the world’s best riders from around the world at WinSport Canada’s Canada Olympic Park, the South Lake Tahoe-resident showed absolutely no mercy during the 8-women Final on Saturday. She began her winning run with a board-slide
to tail-slide 270 out and tail-slide to fakie on the jibs, a switch front-side 540, back-side 540 and switch back-side 540 on the jumps, before finishing up with a tail grab to back-side 50-50 to back-side 180 out. The run earned her an 88.68 for the effort
to carry her off to a convincing victory.
“Feels great to be back in Calgary this year,” Anderson said in a statement after the competition. “Weather is beautiful, it's a fun course and I landed a good run as well as all my 5's.”
The 23-year-old Candrian secured runner-up place after scoring a 73.93 off her best run, which featured a front-side 50-50 to nose-slide, board-slide, 50-50 front-side 180 out, switch front-side 540, back-side 360, front-side 720 and 50-50 to front-side
lip-slide.
The 20-year-old Luxton put on an impressive run during Saturday’s women’s Slopestyle Final as well, earning a 73.50 off a run that comprised of a 50-50 front-slide 360 out, front-side board-slide, 5-50 front-side 180 out, switch front-side 540, back-side
360, front-side 540 and half cab to front-side board-slide.
With her latest victory, Anderson cemented her place on top in the TTR Women’s Slopestyle World Tour Rankings as well as the Burton Global Open Series standings.
