Jamie Anderson emerges triumphant in The Roxy Snow Pro 2012 – Snowboarding News
American snowboarder Jamie Anderson walked away with top honours from The Roxy Snow Pro slopestyle competition that went down in Saalbach Hinterglemm, Australia, on Friday, January 10.
Netherland’s Cheryl Maas had to settle for runner-up place while Britain’s Aimee Fuller finished third to round out the podium.
The field for Friday’s 5Star Ticket to Ride (TTR) event comprised of immensely-skilled female riders from around the world, determined to get their hands on the coveted TTR ranking points as well as a slice of the $25,000 USD prize purse.
The defending TTR Women’s World Tour champion, Anderson, was expected to make a solid impact at the latest snowboarding event and she surely did not leave her fans disappointed. Comfortably passing through the Semi-finals to go against an intimidating Finals’
line-up, the 21-year-old American landed a spectacular run, comprising of  a back-side board-slide, Cab 720 nose grab, switch back-side 540, back-side 360 mute grab and a back-side wall-ride.
The run remained unbeatable throughout the course of the Final, eventually serving to seal the fate of the contest in her favour.
In her post-Final interview, Anderson commented, “I am so happy to have won the Roxy Snow Pro. All the girls were riding amazing. And, the park crews built a great park set up and the park crews built a great park set up. It was amazing to ride under the
lights at night. I couldn't be happier!”
Maas landed a remarkable run of her while looking to challenge Anderson’s lead, but her effort turned out to be in vain. She still managed to clinch second place for the run that featured a switch 50-50, switch back-side 180, back-side 720 tail grab, front-side
360 tail grab, and 50-50 to switch back-side 50-50.
Australia’s Torah Bright was also competing for top honours at Roxy Snow Pro, but failed to make much of an impact. “I'm so happy to be here with the other girls. I'm a bit disappointed with my runs today. I would like to have had a better result here,”
said the Half-pipe Olympic gold medallist.
With her win in Australia, Anderson has cemented her place on top in the TTR Women’s Slopestyle World Tour Rankings, while moving to 10th spot in the TTR Women’s Overall World Tour Rankings.
