Jamie Anderson expands signature line to include street wear after fresh contract with Billabong
Jamie Anderson, the snowboarding legend from America, is expanding her signature collection to a broader street wear market. The new collection will be released in 2012.
The expansion of her collection to include the new line of clothes is part of the contract that she renewed with Billabong earlier this month, extending the relation between the two for another three years.
“It feels amazing to sign with Billabong for another 3 years, and I’m so proud to work with such a great company,” said Anderson. “I’m excited about expanding the Jamie Anderson Collection and couldn’t be happier about the relationship.”
Designing her own line of street wear is not the only thing that the 20-year-old is excited about. The fresh contract also allows her the freedom to choose her own materials for the clothes that she designs. This is really satisfying for Anderson as she
strongly feels that one should give preference to eco-friendly materials, such as organic cottons for instance.
While she is really happy for being more involved than before and getting an opportunity to design clothes in accordance to her style, she was honest enough to admit the excitement over the financial perks that the clothes line have to offer. Anderson explained
that the designer is rewarded with a percentage of sales of the products that they design.
Anderson’s role as a fashion ambassador is nothing new. She has already been working on her signature outwear line for quite some time now. Working on the new line has not removed her focus from the previous one at all, something that is proved by the expansion
in her outwear collection that is to come out this fall, i.e. September 1.
Billabong has decided to get the slopestyle queen more involved in clothes line because of the influence that she can possibly have on the shoppers. According to various surveys and studies, a major chunk of shoppers is comprised of females. That is why
more and more companies are focusing more on women.
According to SnowSports Industries America’s Kelly Davis, the sales for women’s snow sport products increased from $100 million to $1 billion in the 2010 season.
Billabong is quite aware of the available market and eager to capitalise on the opportunity. Billabong’s Candy Harris explained that, “The expansion of her signature collection to a broader street wear market will be a great opportunity to see her influence
shine both on and off the mountain.”
If there is anyone who is worrying about losing one of the greatest female snowboarder in history to fashion, they should not worry too much. Anderson is still very much passionate about the sport and has no plans to part way with the outdoor thrilling action
anytime soon.
