Jamie Barrett satisfied with his performance in 2012 World Snooker Q School
World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) selected 12 players who are now a part of the two-year pro circuit tour. However, there were some cuemen who had the chance to qualify through Q School but they were unable to qualify for the main tour. England’s
Jamie Barrett is one of them as he failed to improvise during the second Q School event and crashed out.
The second event was his only chance because he made it to the fourth round in this one but despite playing impressively, he tumbled down at the hands of Ryan Causton by the score line of 4-3. In other two Q School events, he could not move up from the initial
stages. However, Barrett is satisfied with his performance in the qualifying event and believes he can do better next time.
While speaking to the local media, Barrett said, “I played well during the Q School and was maybe a little unlucky not to get further than the fourth round, even though that was a good result for me. I'm pleased with my finish at the Q School, but the more
I think about reaching the professional tour it might have been difficult.”
He added, “I have a job here and a young family to support – that is my priority. It would cost about £14,000 to be on the tour for a season, including all the travelling costs to get to and from events. In today's financial market it would not be possible.”
Snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has launched the new snooker season with the qualifying sessions of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event and the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament. This
year, the association has featured 128 rookies in the new snooker season and has given them a chance to prove and improve their talent.
Barrett has his eyes on the upcoming 2012-13 Players Tour Championship (PTC) events to improve his ranking and skills. He will give another try next year to win the pro tour ticket so that he can play in the professional circuit along with the top dogs of
snooker.
