Jamie Burnett not worried about his next opponent in second round of 2012 Wuxi Classic
Scotland’s Jamie Burnett was up against China’s Wild Card holder Jin Long in the WC round and was able to defeat him by the score line of 5-3 to book his place in the initial televised stage of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament against the former
World Snooker Championship winner, Australia’s Neil Robertson.
Burnett has grabbed a strong position in the tournament and his performance against Ding Junhui or Mark Davis in the second frame will be crucial as his next opponents are in tremendous form. However, the Scot does not bother whoever he faces in the second
frame as he is feeling confident and believes that he can trouble any one of them.
While speaking to World Snooker after his victory, Burnett said, “I'm pleased to go through, it was always going to be a tough match but the objective was to win the match and that's what I've done. I have no preference about who I play next, Ding or Davis.”
He added, “If you do your job you can't have any excuses if you lose at the end of it. Everyone you get at this level is tough and I'll just take one at a time and do my best and just concentrate on my own stuff, my own game.”
Burnett displayed some outstanding game play against the former champ and was able to make a major upset in the event beating him by the score line of 5-1. Robertson failed to improvise accordingly and was unable to play up to the mark against Burnett. He
could win only one frame against the Scotsman while the rookie cruised to match victory claiming four consecutive frames by the score line of 5-1.
Burnett grabbed early lead of 1-0 in the match with a stunning clearance of 40 points leaving Robertson under immense pressure. However, the Aussie potter bounced back with a superb half-century break of 54 to win the second frame and equalise the scores
at 1-1. After that the Scottish potter swept the table in the next four frames without wasting any time. It will be interesting to see what impact Burnett will have during the tournament as he is looking very competitive.
