Jamie Carragher extends contract at Liverpool
Liverpool's veteran defender and life long player, Jamie Carragher has managed to take his loyalty with the club, one step ahead after he went on to sign a contract extension with the team, that would see him play at Anfield until June of 2013.
The defender is going to be turning thirty three years old at the turn of the new year, but has still managed to secure his services to the team for the coming years. This also means that the player will most probably retire from the same team that he joined
when he was a school boy and in doing so, he will take club loyalty to a whole new level.
The most notable thing about the players decision is the fact that he came to this conclusion, despite of the fact that Liverpool are currently going through a mini crisis and could implode at almost any minute now.
Carraghar has made over six hundred appearances for the team after making his debut way back in the 1997 season. He has also managed to win ten trophies with the club, which include the FA Cup, the Carling cup, the UEFA Cup and the Champions League.
Carragher has also, however, admitted that despite of him eventually calling it quits to his playing career with the club, he would still most probably make a comeback to the side as a manager or even an assistant coach in the future. The player was reported
to have said: "I think it would find it very hard not to have football in my life.”
"If I go down that road I might be coaching, scouting...I don't know.
"Here would be great. But Liverpool always have top managers and you would have to earn your stripes."
Carragher for now however, will be playing in the heart of the Liverpool defense, but with him aging fast and not getting any younger, it is more than likely that his inclusion in the first team will eventually run out. Nonetheless while he remains at the
club, he would prove to be the defender who has all the experience in the world and that is something the newer less experienced players can learn off, of.
The Liverpool fans, on the other hand, will probably never want their hero to quit the team, but they need to come to term's with the fact that sooner or later everyone leaves.
