Jamie Cope defeats Andrew Pagett, 10-7 – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship

Jamie Cope defeated Andrew Pagett by a frame score of 10-7 in the first round of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship, which is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, England.
The Crucible Debutant, Andrew Pagett, who impressively outplayed the likes of Zhang Anda, Bjorn Haneveer, Nigel Bond and Andrew Higginson in the qualifying rounds, has fallen down in the last-32. However, the Englishman, Jamie Cope, on the same note made
an accomplishing performance to secure a place in the next round. The overall score-line between both players was 75-55, 45-75, 68-39, 74-75, 25-51, 35-71, 73-30, 108-0, 73-37, 81-21, 74-0, 20-91, 60-60, 98-16, 12-65, 12-75 and 57-47.
First chance in the opening frame fell for Pagett but he only managed a break of 48, where as Cope responded with a classy break of 75 to draw the first blood, by 1-0. There was an exactly opposite story in the second frame, as Pagett this time fired a classy
break of 75 to level the things at 1-1. Cope took the third frame again with a dominant break of 49 before the Welsh Wizard, Pagett, bounced back into the game and clinched the following three frames in a row to make the scores 2-4. He enjoyed dominant breaks
of 27, 42 and 61 respectively.
Meanwhile the world number fifteen, Cope, also clawed back and pocketed the seventh, eighth and ninth frame to restore his one frame lead to 5-4 before the end of the first session. He also showcased a magnificent match-highest break of 90 in the eighth
frame.
On resuming the play in the second session the Englishman, Cope, again dominated the first two frames to extend his lead by 7-4. Though Pagett responded in the twelfth with a prominent break of 42 to trail 7-5, he lost the following thirteenth and fourteenth
again.
The match was almost through before the Welshman, who was left down by four frames with five to play, clawed back and registered himself in the following fifteenth and sixteenth to reduce the deficit by 9-7. Life was again brought back into the match, as
twenty-eight-year-old, Pagett, held his nerves to compile superb breaks of 37 and 54 but there were of no use, as Cope closed the chapter in the seventeenth frame after a bout of safety play.
Jamie Cope has now setup a potential match with another Welshman, Mark Williams, in the last-16.
