Jamie Dalrymple leaves Middlesex – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jamie-Dalrymple-c1658 has left his domestic outfit, Middlesex, ending his association with club after they failed to meet the player’s demand of leading the side.
The 30-year-old first made his name while playing in the varsity match for Oxford, scoring a double century, which prompted the London club to get hold of his services. It was not until 2004, that the player started playing regular county cricket.
With some impressive performances, he managed to break into the national team, making his one Day International debut in 2006. However, he could not fulfill his true potential and was dropped from the team after a disappointing World Cup 2007.
Shortly after that, the 30-year-old also turned down a contract offer from Middlesex and went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 on a three year deal, where he was appointed the captain of the team. His stint with the county side lasted just two season, and he left the club after
he was stripped off the captaincy.
The player returned to Middlesex, however, could not achieve the level of consistency he was renowned for and after disagreements with the management, decided to leave the club with mutual consent.
Middlesex managing director, Angus Fraser praised the efforts of the player, however, said that the team could not offer him a leadership role.
"His passion lies in leadership and man-management roles and these are not positions that are currently available at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817, said Fraser.
Dalrymple added: "I'd like to thank Middlesex and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Angus-Robert-Charles-Fraser-c44701 for the opportunity to return to play this season after the difficulties I had last winter."Furthermore, I'd like to say how much I enjoyed playing and working with the squad, both young and
old, and particularly contributing to a Middlesex team that gained promotion from Division Two as champions.”
The all-rounder is now considering, whether he wants to continue playing cricket or search for opportunities elsewhere, and has not ruled out hanging his boots.
Apart from the 27 ODI matches, Dalrymple has featured in 166 List A games, scoring over 3000 runs at an average of 26.85. He has also represented his respective counties in 135 first-class games, scoring 6544 runs at 34.08.
