Jamie Donaldson leads after second round of the Volvo China Open, European Tour – Golf news
Volvo China Open continues to spice up. The second round of the four-day event commenced on Friday. Luxehills International Country Club, the host club has produced some great golf after two rounds. Jamie Donaldson played the best golf of his life as he
carded a fantastic round of eleven-under par, 61.
This was an outstanding performance by the Welshman. His score card had eleven circles which all depicted birdies. It was a great score card as he took the outright lead on the exciting second day. Donaldson was not wary of the players who climbed the leader
board early before he finished his round.
The 35-year-old played like a champion and attacked almost every pin placement on the green. He hit some beautiful approach shots which landed inside a couple of feet from the pin. It looked like he was the only player playing on the course. The veteran
looked in excellent shape with his putting as well. He was holding his putts all day long which eventually turned fortunes for him.
Donaldson was more than happy with his birdie streak. He amassed eleven birdies on his score card and failed to make a bogey. With this performance on the thrilling second day, he stood out of the crowded leader board. He was simply brilliant on the back-nine.
He had six birdies out of the nine holes which certainly show that the player was in his best form.
This is the best performance of his career. It was also the lowest round for the day and the tournament. After playing two rounds, he only has made a single bogey.
The bogey free Donaldson after his round said, “I think my best ever round before this was eight under par last year or the year before, so this was a lot better. I played great pretty much all the way. I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens and gave
myself a lot of chances which you have to do here. It’s set for low scoring. Today everything went my way.”
Donaldson is now 13-under par, after two rounds. He leads the crowded leader board by one shot.
It was simply a day which produced wonders for many as they carded great under par rounds. It looked like having an under-par score on the second day was an easy thing.

All these tied seven players have a 36-hole aggregate score of twelve-under par, 132 and trail by one from the leader.
Irishman Peter Lawrie once again was fantastic and bogey free. He is the only player among the top contenders who is yet to make a bogey during his round. Lawrie carded eight-under par, 64 which was the second best round of the day. He looked in excellent
touch as he hit some aggressive approach shots which landed near the holes. The Irishman took full advantage of his play and made eight birdies for the day. He was putting well on the greens and had a good read of the lines.
Lawrie also jumped 24 places on the leader board as the second round finished.
The leader board is completely crowded. More than 15 players are within three shots of the leader. It will once again be a battlefield on the third day where these players will be charging on the score board with their rounds.
There was a projected cutline score on the second day. The score was at five-under par after two rounds. Some of the notable players failed to make it through the cutline score. Defending champion Yang Yong-eun also was among the players missing the cut.
