Jamie Dwyer, the Australian hockey legend is recovering from knee injury swiftly
Jamie Raymond Dwyer, the reigning legend of Australian hockey, is quickly recovering from his knee injury, which he received this year in April 2010, while playing for his club side in Netherlands.
Jamie Dwyer, the 32-year-old veteran and seasoned mid-fielder in the Australian national team, has remained the most important and vital player of his team since his international debut way back in 2001. He also has 250 international matches under his belt,
while playing for Australia in which he has smashed 150 goals into the opponent’s net.
His extra time strike in the final of 2004 Athens Olympics that led the Kookaburras to the winning podium with a gold medal will be remembered in the history of Australian hockey for a long time.
He has been awarded ‘World Hockey Player of the Year’ award for a record four times, in 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2010, besides the ‘World Hockey Young Player of the Year’ award in 2002. Jamie Dwyer also captained the Australia’s Kookaburras in the latest edition
of Hockey World Cup, which was held in New Delhi, India, in 2010 and lead them to the title by defeating Germany by 2-1 in the final.
Dwyer seemed very exciting on the improvement of his injury and is also keen to be in action once again.
“I’m only about 5-6 weeks away from resuming training. The injury has healed very well but I’m seeing a specialist next Thursday who will give me a more specific date for my return”, Dwyer, the legendary player stated.
“I’ll be all good for London, we have a good chance to win gold, but we still need to improve and get better at certain parts of our game. If we do that we’ll have a very good chance”, he further stated about their preparation and chances of victory in the
upcoming prestigious 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.
Jamie Dwyer has been the inspirational character for the youngsters across the country and has achieved almost every title in his gleaning career of ten years, besides his individual awards. He won a bronze and a gold medal in Olympics, gold and two silvers
in World Cup, four gold and two silvers in Champions Trophy and two gold medals in Commonwealth Games.
