Jamie Ellis bags double honours in rugby league season
Jamie Ellis of Leigh Centurions has bagged two honours this year including The Championship Player and The Young Player of the Year award, at the Co-operative Championships awards dinner in Manchester.
The player had joined in with Leigh on a year’s contract which is to finish by the end of this season. His performance at Leigh surpassed his previous records as he scored 34 tries, which has won him the recognition as the Young Player of the Year. His role
in taking up his second-tier club to the Northern Rail Cup, has been significant too.
For his stint at the second-tier franchise, he has been the fulcrum of attention in rugby league, and has gained appreciation for his unmatched talent and skill in the rugby palette. At the end of this season, Ellis will be seen joining Hull FC, to represent
in the Super League palette. The news about Ellis future home was confirmed in May 2011.
The player is very eager to exhibit his full potential through the pool of opportunities which await him at Hulls.
While talking about his move to the Hulls’ official website, Ellis stated, "They are a massive club with loads of potential. They are a big Super League club and I can't wait. I feel this is an opportunity to show some people exactly what I can do. The move
to Leigh has done me the world of good. I have loved every minute of it but this was too good an opportunity to turn down."
Ellis has been too fortunate in terms of opportunities for him, at the infancy of his professional rugby league career. He took off his rugby career at the Chorley Panther, which is an amateur club, before he made a move to the Saints Helens club. At Helens,
he had the opportunity to learn a lot from the half-back, Sean Long.
His stay at Saints was wound up with his move to the second-tier Championship club, Leigh, at the start of this year’s season, which has been labelled fortunate with opportunities in abundance for him to grow further.
Now that he has accepted a two-year contract term with the Hulls, he acknowledges that his decision of his move to the Champion ship club was one of the best he could have made for his rugby future.
Richard Agar, the Hulls head coach is convinced about the skill of the latest recruit to Hulls and stated that player has “outstanding kicking game and a lot of potential in front of him”.
Agar further added, "He has made great strides and playing regular first-team rugby at Leigh under Ian Millward has really helped his game.”
