Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012: I.K. Kim loses momentum in fourth round
South Korean I.K. Kim displayed a sensible performance in the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012, as she finished tied for the fifth after posting an overall score of 273.
Kim was one of several Asian players who dominated the leaderboard of Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 right from the start of the event on Thursday.
Although the field proved tougher than most of the players had anticipated, Kim stayed calm and composed in the four rounds and did not give her rivals too many chances to surge ahead.
The South Korean star could not impress her fans in the fourth round as she posted a 71. However, she capitalised on relatively calm weather conditions on the third day and carded a 66.
Kim started her third round with heaps of confidence because she shot a birdie on the very first hole. She parred the next two holes, but could not keep a grip on her strokes when she played the fourth hole
and ended up carding a bogey.
Regaining her momentum, the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star avoided making careless putts after her bogey and remained in contention till the final hole.
She shot six birdies in the third round, consolidating her position on the leaderboard, but a 71 in the last round took a toll on her overall score.
Speaking at the end of the third day, Kim said that she was happy with her performance and she made the most of good weather conditions. She said that the course looked even better than it did on the first
two days.
“I had a good day.  I think overnight it rained a lot so the course was definitely playing more soft.  The greens were rolling a little slower than yesterday because of the rain. Sometimes it's really hard
to adapt to that right away, but I think I did that pretty well today.  That was the key with the putting,” the South Korean golfer said.
“It feels great.  This is one of my favorite tournaments.  I came here on my rookie year.  Yeah, I really missed it last year.  It's always nice to see all my friends out here.  They knew me since I was 18”.
