Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012: Paula Creamer can repeat her 2008 performance
American Paula Creamer, who won the 2008 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic, is confirmed to take part in the upcoming edition of the prestigious tournament, set to be played from August 9-12, at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Ohio.
Creamer might not have done what her fans have been expecting her to do in the last few tournaments, the American star is keen to move ahead by recording victories this season.
Creamer’s biggest aim this year is to end her protracted victory drought. She has been struggling to win an event since she racked up her first major title at the US Women’s Open in July 2010. So far, the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star has been doing fine, but a victory still seems out of reach.
Analysts said that Creamer might have been struggling to get back on track for months, but she certainly has what it takes to win an event.
According to the tournament officials, the field has been confirmed, and most of the contenders who took part in the last edition of the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic, are going to put their skills to the test in the upcoming edition as well.
Key contenders include Laura Davies, Ai Miyazato, Na Yeon Choi, Mika Miyazato, Vicky Hurst, Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome, Brittany Lang, Stacy Lewis, I.K. Kim, Yani Tseng, Amy Yang and Natalie Gulbis.
Analysts said that South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who is the defending champion of the tournament, is going to give a tough time to her rivals. Since the tournament is being held in the United States, Creamer appears to be in a stronger position in terms of crowd support.
It remains to be seen how the 25-year-old golfer will fare against rivals when she comes face-to-face against them at Highland Meadows Golf Club, but she showed in the Evian Masters 2012, held in France last Sunday, that she is determined to earn a victory this season.
The American prodigy performed well at Evian Masters 2012, as she finished tied for the ninth spot on the leaderboard. She displayed a balanced game throughout the four days of the LPGA tournament and did not give too many chances to her nearest rivals.
