Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 to feature a fearsome field
The Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 is going to be held from August 9-12, at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Ohio, with a tough field comprising almost all the top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
contenders.
According to the published field for the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012, key players include American Cristie Kerr, I.K. Kim, Brittany Lang, Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome, Ai Miyazato, Mika Miyazato, Vicky
Hurst, Na Yeon Choi, Paula Creamer, Laura Davies, Natalie Gulbis, Yani Tseng and Amy Yang.
Most of the players in the published field of the prestigious tournament took part in the last tournament—the Evian Masters, held last Sunday in France. Although the match turned into a nerve-racking battle,
players are now all set to focus on upcoming showdown at Highland Meadows Golf Club.
Analysts said that since the roster is packed with most of the experienced and battle-hardened contenders, the tournament is likely to see a tough fight.
South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who won the last — 2010 edition — of the tournament, is going to defend her title. Choi appears to be in high spirits in the current season, as she recently won her first major title
at the US Women’s Open.
Choi’s performance at the 2010 edition of the Jamie Farr Classic was stunning, as she beat In-Kyung Kim, Christina Kim of the United States and Song-Hee Kim in playoff.
The South Korean star can pose a serious challenge to big names in the roster, but winning the event will not be that easy, as American players are expected to make the most of massive crowd support — since
the event is being staged in the United States.
American Paula Creamer, who won the 2008 edition of the tournament, will be in the limelight. The American spectators are going to give her much-needed support on the course.
However, South Korean Se Ri Pak, who won five titles at the tournament, is not in the field this year. English Laura Davies of England, who won the 1988 edition, is also going to put her skills to the test
in Ohio.
Analysts said another player who will remain under scrutiny at Highland Meadows Golf Club is the current world number one Yani Tseng. Tseng has been seeking to put an end to her summer-long slump.
