Jamie Jones-Buchanan says that England is ready for Australia - Rugby League
Jamie Jones-Buchanan, who has retained his spot in the 17-man English line-up, shared with the media on Friday, November 4, that England is all set to embark on this weekend’s double-header of the Gillette Four Nations, where England will take on the series’
favourites, Australia, at Wembley.
The first game of Saturday’s double-header will be played between New Zealand and the underdogs of the campaign, Wales. The second game of the day will showcase the Kangaroos against England.
Rugby Football League (RFL) are striving to shift the venue of the rugby league international games back to the national stadium. If this gets approved this will be the first time after 1997 that the game will be exhibited in front of such a huge crowd.
Expressing his thoughts about the move, Jones-Buchanan stated, "It's great that it's in the capital because we need to bring more spectacles down here to spread the game. I've never known anyone watching a rugby league game for the first time come away disappointed
so it's a real chance for us to widen the appeal of the game and I'm privileged to be part of that. I've never won a Challenge Cup and I've never played against Australia. They are two of the things I'd like to do before I finish playing and I'm going to get
to achieve one of them this weekend. It's a bit of a milestone for me in my career."
The 30-year-old player further stressed that they should improve their on-field game, which can contribute towards the popularity of the game amongst the masses. Jones-Buchanan values the opportunity to play against Australia, a great deal because through
Saturday’s match, he will be able to recognise one of the benchmark of his professional life.
He is all pumped to exhibit his on-field brilliance, as he takes on the much stronger, Australian side. England will walk into the Saturday’s clash with a massive 42-4 win over Wales, who are believed to be the minnows of the campaign.
Prior to last weekend’s match, England also overwhelmed France completely in the warm-up match of Four Nations. England is hoping to convert tomorrow’s match in their favour, which is very crucial for their retention in the Series.
