Jamie Jones-Buchanan says younger players at Leeds Rhinos are inspirational
While talking to reporters on December 9, after pledging his future for three more years to Leeds Rhinos, Jamie Jones-Buchanan stated that the younger lot at the franchise provided inspiration for the senior players to improve on their existing game.
The English second rower started his career in 1999 with Rhinos and to date the player has remained loyal to the franchise. His stay at the club saw him feature in a total of 226 games where he has earned 204 points, which are all scored through 51 tries.
This count is expected to build up if the player is able to mirror his previous performance.
It appeared that the 30-year-old is all set to bring more silverware to the club during his new three year term at the franchise. He also shared that he is aiming for the big game victories, which are addictive, as he wants to sign off from rugby field on
a high note.
While talking about is agenda over the next three years, Buchanan said, "We have got a lot of young lads in the squad now and they inspire the older guys to keep striving for more. We want to win the Challenge Cup and retain the title."
The player was part of all five Super League Grand Final victories for Rhinos since 2004 and is hopeful of a brighter future for the franchise.
While expressing his views about the current status of the club, the player added, "I think there is a perpetual flow happening now with the success we have had at first team and the talent that is in the academy. We are passing on that culture to our young
players at an early age."
The coaching staff is also happy with the extension of the second rower’s stay. Regarding the Rhinos head coach, Brian McDermott, acknowledged that Buchanan has been incredible throughout his term at the club. The coach went on and branded him as the perfect
example for the younger lot, who will be inspired by his successful profile which he has built up through his persistent efforts.
It will be interesting to see how well the player performs in his concluding years at the club.
