Jamie O'Hara lines up West Ham move
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has his heart set on a move to London rivals West Ham United. The 24-year-old has made no secret of his desire for first team football, and with
that looking increasingly unlikely at White Hart Lane, he’s set his sights on a move to Upton Park to link up with Avram Grant, with whom he spent the second half of last season with at Portsmouth.
That season-long loan deal at Fratton Park last term, where O’Hara won a clean sweep of all the various Player of the Year accolades, had alerted plenty of other Premier League outfits
to his situation, but after Spurs boss Harry Redknapp assured O’Hara he had a future in North London, the midfielder decided to stay at the club. This was despite concrete interest from the Hammers this summer, although they reportedly baulked at the £6m asking
price, especially since the player was due to miss the start of the season due to an on-going back problem.
But now, O’Hara looks set to move on. He is far too talented a player to be merely warming the bench week-in-week-out, with his superb left-foot, passing range and almost endless supply
of energy assets to most sides in the division.
At 24, he is hardly a youngster anymore, but his career has failed to really ignite. Last season’s spell on the south coast was a taste of what he yearned, and now he must look for a more
permanent switch.
Unfortunately, for O’Hara, his desired move to West Ham may be usurped by the fact the Hammers are currently at loggerheads with Spurs over the Olympic Stadium issue. Whether that will
disrupt negotiations is unknown, but for all parties a deal should be made for the benefit of everyone involved.
