Jamie Osborne hoping to win Betfair International with Field Of Dream – Horseracing news
Jamie Osborne is really looking forward to the Betfair International at Ascot in England, scheduled to take place at the end of this month.
Field Of Dream will be the one representing him and according to the seasoned trainer, “We've had plenty of winners this season but none that makes the headlines, so it was particularly pleasing to win the Bunbury Cup with him. He has to have a seriously
fast pace and he goes to Ascot this week for the Betfair International, which he won 12 months ago in a great finish from Edinburgh Knight.”
He went onto say, “He has been a grand servant who has notched up almost a quarter of a million pounds to date. I couldn't be happier with him.”
Although Field Of Dream has been unable to win races with consistency, he has the ability to deliver top quality results at the highest level. He had been struggling to make an impression this year and it appeared that he would end it without even a single
victory. However, he produced a brilliant run out of nowhere and took everyone by surprise.
Importantly for his camp, the solid victory came in a race during the July Cup, where the six-year-old gelding was not given the best odds for victory, but still took the top spot with ease. He was up against some very good challengers, but outperformed
all of them. The conditions might have favoured him in the event, as the ground was dry and extremely quick.
Prior to that, Field Of Dream made an appearance at the Royal Ascot, where he was up against 27 other challengers in a tough race. He was unable to find a spot in the top-five back then, but still managed a pretty good result, ending up sixth overall. He
will now have to continue delivering some decent results towards the end of the season in order to get the attention of the bookies with consistency.
The Irish challenger has participated in a total of 32 events, winning just five of them, which means that he needs to work hard in improving his strike rate.
