Jamie Peacock ignores injured knee in hopes of winning 2011 Four Nations - Rugby
While talking to reporters on Tuesday, November 15, the England captain, Jamie Peacock, said that his injured knee will not obstruct his way towards winning the Gillette Four Nations against Australia at Elland Road, Leeds, on Saturday.
The English skipper played with an injured knee during the sudden-death encounter of the Gillette Four Nations against New Zealand. The knee was reconstructed almost a year ago, after it sustained a major blow in a match against Australia.
His troubled knee did not stop the player during their thumping 28-6 win against Kiwis during weekend. Expressing his thoughts about the final clash against Kangaroos, Peacock said, "I'm just doing what any other rugby player does to be fair. Sometimes you
are not 100 per cent but that's the way it is. My knee feels like it did three or four months ago, when it was pretty stiff, but you know if you can trust it structurally, that nothing is going to go, you can go out and play. It has definitely got one more
game in it."
England side is all geared up to lock their horns with Australia, and is so far going pretty strong in the series, as there were no more injuries reported during the Four Nations’ semi-final showdown. Hopefully, Gareth Ellis is expected to make his comeback
too, which will definitely boost up England’s winning chances against the obvious stronger side.
English side is counting on his return, because his presence will definitely alter the equation for them. Peacock branded his side Ellis as the best back rower of the world and said, "We want him back out there. He's an amazing player to play alongside."
Peacock missed out on last year's Four Nations Series because of the knee injury and this year he wants to make up for his last year's absence despite the unfit knee. He will be making his 47th appearance on Saturday, which places him on the fourth
place within the standing which is currently topped by Adrian Morley. Morley will make his 50th appearance, in the weekend game drawing equal with Garry Schofield and Mick Sullivan.
Either side is preparing well for the final showdown of Four Nations. However, if we compare both sides, Australian side, still is the stronger one of the two.
