Jamie Peacock sees a brighter future for Leeds Rhino – Rugby League update
Jamie Peacock is very positive about his first Wembley experience on August 27, where the final showdown of the Carnegie Challenge Cup will be staged.
Peacock of Leeds had injured his knee ligaments at Castlefords, two weeks prior to last years’ Challenge Cup final, which ousted him for quite some time. This season–ending injury caused Peacock to also miss the Four Nations series.
While talking about the second chance he has been granted to be part of Wembley action, Peacock stated, “It will mean a lot to me. It has been a childhood dream to get there and the fact that I missed out last year is an added incentive for me to do well.
I was shell-shocked last year when I was told the full extent of the injury, but you have to focus on the positives. If you feel sorry for yourself you end up in trouble. There’s no room in sport for that sort of emotion, especially at the top level.”
Peacock reckons that if you pity yourself in the world of sports then your chances of making a comeback are minimal. However, Peacock is excited to be part of the final show down which was snatched away from him last year due to the unexpected injury. He
also shared that when he was hurt he had no idea that the extent of the knee damage would be that severe and postponed his Wembley dream until next year.
While recalling last year’s performance, Peacock also mentioned that Leeds had really worked hard to reach to the final showdown, which required tremendous amounts of effort from the Rhinos. He further acknowledged that to be able to get into the finals
each year is getting harder as the standards of Rugby get better.
This year’s final show down will see the Wigan Warriors combat Leeds Rhinos in Wembley. Leeds have been branded as the underdogs in Saturday night’s clash. On the other hand, Wigans have topped the league table, treading ahead as an unbeaten franchise so
far.
