Jamie Peacock wants to improve rugby league by taking on administrative role
Jamie Peacock, Leeds Rhinos’ skipper, has shown his intentions of being in the shoes of Nigel Wood, the chief executive of Rugby Football League (RFL), just ahead of the final showdown of the Carnegie Challenge Cup 2011 on August 27.
Peacock has swept his outfit to the big game of the Challenge Cup which has made him realise his hidden potential in the administration side after he had his knee reconstructed towards the end of the previous season.
When inquired by Peacock about his future plans on taking up RFL’s chief position, he said that for him it would be a dream opportunity to take up. He also shared that he wants to create a difference in rugby league, which he thinks can be easily achieved
by joining in the administrative role.
While speaking about it the Rhinos’ skipper stated, "I was going to run one and it snowball into six. I wanted to take it to places where there is no Super League club on the doorstep, so we've been to Oldham, Normanton, York and Dewsbury as well as a couple
at my old club Stanningley club in Leeds. It's a chance to meet Super League stars."
Peacock who has given his best to this game admitted that he likes keeping himself busy. His passion for being part of the rugby palette has unleashed an entirely new dimension which is getting recognised by him too.
When inquired about his future endeavours, he confirmed that he has no intentions of stepping into the shoes of the coach but has a bent for the administrative role. Adding to it, Peacock also stated that there are many experienced people who are exceptional
at the administrative skills and can be taken as a source of learning by him.
While speaking about his inclination for the administrative capacity, Peacock added, "That's something I'd enjoy doing. I'm very experienced as a rugby player but not so experienced at running a business."
He further mentioned that for him it has been an entirely on -job learning experience for him, as he is supposed to set everything up himself, which works well for his future.
