Jamila Fatima Cruz powers her way into semifinal of 2011 MVP Sports Foundation Bingo Bonanza
Philippines’ talented shuttler, Jamila Fatima Cruz has powered her way into the Women’s Singles semi-final as she crushed Rhea Princess Joy Pacot in the quarter-final of the 2011 MVP Sports Foundation Bingo Bonanza, in Philippines on Monday, August 1.
Jamila enjoyed a great run of form in her quarter-final against Rhea Princess by playing to her maximum potential and emerged as the winner with a wonderful margin in both games. She consumed only 19 minutes to finish off the straight-set match with surprising
ease, as she found no problem at all in beating her opponent.
In the start of the opening set, Jamila controlled the pace of the game and established her worth by taking a good lead of 11-5. Her execution of strokes was impressive as she missed no chance to score points by hitting the bird in the gaps of her opponent’s
court.
After the interval, Rhea Princess tried to catch up Jamila but failed badly as her opponent was playing on a completely different level. Jamila kept her pace high and remained composed and patient in driving the rallies and progressed in the match with a
greater level of confidence. She finished off the first game with the score of 21-10, in just 10 minutes.
Rhea Princess tried to change her technique in the second set, but again failed to dominate the speed of the game. Jamila soon occupied the driving set and started to progress with great pace. Until the interval, she was leading with a six-point margin of
11-5.
After the break, Jamila remained focused and stretched her lead by executing all her strokes in a perfect manner. She was not making any mistakes in her shot selection and execution, which earned her a victory in the second set by a margin of 21-10, in just
9 minutes. This 19-minute battle ended up with the score of 21-10 and 21-10.
In the semi-final, Jamila will fight against Ma. Bianca Ysabel Carlos, who crushed Rose Marie Toto in the quarter-final match of the event.
