Question:

Jammed finger by bending it?

If someone bent their middle finger in the top joint inwards would it break if it was pushed to a certain level or would that be considered jamming it? I think this happened to me. Is my finger broken or jammed?

  1. Obviously asking if somethings broke without Xrays is a little out of my league.

Bending your finger too far in any direction could break it sure.   I doubt u broke it though because the pain involved (especially in a finger that gets used) would be unbearable.

that, and the fact your finger isn't bent in the wrong direction now also makes me think it is not broken.  If it is, (you don't say so in your question), then it's obvious, you either dislocated the joint, fractured the bone or flat out broke it.

Sometimes, people do have broken bones without ever knowing it--usually in the foot or surrounding areas.

I suspect you just jammed your finger.  But....and this is just precautionary, if you notice bruising or increased pain, I'd get it checked out soon.  h**l, I wouldn't replace an Xray with an yahoo answer if it were me.   I'm just playing the odds and all I have it what you're saying.

Take an analgesic.  I'd even consider an NSAID like Motrin for inflammation.
