Jammed paper shredder? how to unjam it?

i put too many sheets of paper in my small shredderand now its jammed and wont work at all, not even in reverse. nothing happens. any ideas on how to unblock it

sorry no easy way to do it is to turn it off or unless ur shredder has a safety thing that when tipped upside down it doesnt come on. turn shredder upside down and sit there for 4hrs which is wot i did usin a tweezer to get the jammed stuff out.

A little bit of paper at a time.  I use twisters or a nail file.  

You might have to buy a new one.

You need to clear the paper path without using the shredder motor to make sure that you don't burn the motor out.  Pull out as much paper as you can, and then get to work removing the  smaller fragments by either pushing them through or pulling them out using a paper clip or tweezers.

Once you've removed as much as you can, try running the motor.  If its unblocked, done.  If not, keep trying to clear the path as indicated above.

Once clear, relubricate the shredder if its the type that requires shredder oil.

You should find that if you leave it for say 30mins/1hr the thermal cut-out that is fitted to the motor will remake & it will work,but while you are waiting,with the unit turned off pull out the paper with a pair of pliers

Paper shredders are built to be replaced.  You are just out of luck.

PLEASE PLEASE before you do anything with it - TURN IF OFF - UNPLUG IT EVEN!

Sometimes you pul out the jammed paper with your fingers sometimes you need a small tool of some sort - but go easy as you may damge the mechanism if you go in too hard.

I did the same last week!

Turn it off and unplug it

Take off the lid

Use something to poke the paper through (metal skewer etc)

These shredders are prone to overheating as ours did that and we had to get a pair of tweezers and get the bits out and then let it cool because it overheated,

Keep on trying to remove bits of paper, however be advised that doing this can damage the gears that even allows the metal rollers to roll.

Once the gears are stripped, a professional would be needed.

1- Un plug the device

2- Take the shredder out

3- Papers must be jammed up in one of the corner that it's closed to gears .

4- In on side you will see a access wrench ,by a monkey wrench try to twisted .

5- With a sharp utility knife cut dose jammed papers .

6- check other tooth (Cutter) to make sure there's no staple or any strange metal.

take the lid off,

use something small to pull the paper out
