Jan Dombrowski and Ian Boswell signed by Team Sky
Team Sky has announced the addition of Jan Dombrowski and Ian Boswell for its 2013 squad for the coming season.
Both the cyclists rode brilliantly in the current season in the Europe Under 23 event with Team Bontrager-Livestrong.
Boswell enjoyed success at the Tour of Utah, the U23 Liege-Bastogne-Liege and also served Team Argos Shimano as a stagiaire towards the end of the season achieving another top five finishes at the Tour de I’Avenir.
“I tend to be a climber or a GC rider, which is a good role to have on this team”.
“There are a lot of older riders who are similar to me in that respect, and I want to learn as much as I can from them”.
“I’m excited to work with this team and I want to progress and develop with them".
On the other hand, Dombrowski succeeded at the Baby Giro 2012 and finished fourth during the stage 7 of the Tour of California 2012.
He also managed to put up good performances at the Tour of Utah and the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, finishing amongst the top-ten in both the events.
“It’s exciting and I’m looking forward to spending the next couple of years at Team Sky,” Dombrowski said.
“I chose the team because it is the best programme in the world right now and I’m looking forward to having this great opportunity to learn”.
David Brailsford has done well to lift Team Sky as it has managed to take the first spot after the UCI World Tour team’s rankings.
Team Omega Pharma-Lotto won the classifications last year and Team Sky had to settle for the second spot as it fell 32 points short to take the first spot.
The British side is currently leading the 2012 UCI World Tour Teams ranking with a total number of 1691 points to its credit.
Bradley Wiggins (601 points), Christopher Froome (376 points), Edvald Boasson Hagen (241 points), Rigoberto Uran Uran (199 points) while Sergio Henao and Michael Rogers secured 194 points each to help the team.
Team Katusha is at the second position with 1273 points while Team Liquigas-Cannondale (1178 points), Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step (1066 points) and Team Movistar (941 points) occupied the third, fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Mark Cavendish is expected to leave Team Sky and Brailsford is leaving no stones unturned to have the best riders on its squad for the coming season.
